Dear Prospective Member:

The Houston Society for Engineering in Medicine and Biology (HSEMB) was established in 1982 to provide a forum for engineers, scientists and clinicians working in research, development and applications of biomedical technology. The Society acts as a catalyst for interaction among the various components in the greater Houston area including the universities, medical schools, hospitals, industrial organizations and entrepreneurs. The Society also promotes biomedical engineering in the greater Houston area to government and other national and international bodies.

            The Society's activities include:

  • An annual meeting for presentation of papers, panels and symposia
  • The offering of short courses for continuing professional education
  • The offering of academic courses in area universities
  • The presentation of technical seminars to industry and business
  • The development of a membership roster listing areas of professional interest and expertise

In addition to the benefits listed above, members are also entitled to reduced conference registration fees and optional listing in the membership directory on the Society's Web page.

There are three classifications of membership:

Individual member (voting)

Student member (nonvoting)
must be an individual who is interested in the purposes of the Society and is currently enrolled in a related course of study, and
Associate member (nonvoting)
